Anti-Trump Protests in Atlanta and Nationwide

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and I hope that is true. This report will include more photos from the Hands Off Protest on April 5 (approx. 40,0000 in Atlanta) and the May 1st International Workers Day Protest (approx.10,000 in Atlanta), in addition to photos from several smaller protests in Atlanta.

Millions nationally turned out for thousands of protests throughout the United States and globally to oppose Trump’s cruel and fascist policies. The nationwide protests were organized by the 50501 movement, which is short for 50 protests in 50 states in one day. Other national, regional, and local organizations were also involved in organizing these events.

The Supreme Court gave Trump absolute immunity for acts committed as president, and now he is drunk with power, acting recklessly and lawlessly. His immunity may not extend to others who he orders to commit crimes for him.

Citizens cited various reasons for participating in the nationwide protests.  Below are a few examples of citizens concerns, anger, and outrage:

People are angry that Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) fired federal employees, dismantled parts of the federal government, and gained access to over 15 federal agencies, including citizens’ personal data.

Blowback for Musk’s DOGE activities came as a nationwide Tesla Takedown movement to sell your Tesla, dump your stock, and stop Musk.  As a result, Tesla’s profits fell 71%, and several incidents of vandalism and arson targeted Tesla vehicles and dealerships.

Trump’s lawless actions are many, starting with his using masked, unidentified men to pick up international students and transfer them to detention centers without any proof of wrongdoing.

These actions attack freedom of speech and the right to protest, especially those in support of Palestinian rights. Trump has weaponized antisemitic to mean any support for Palestine is antisemitic, which includes writing a pro-Palestine opinion piece, attending a pro-Palestine rally, or participating in the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Movement (BDS).

Trump ordered two plane loads of immigrants to be flown to El Salvador’s infamous Cecot prison without due process and against a judge’s order. Some of those immigrants were asylum seekers, and many had no criminal record.

Trump has threatened to withhold funds from universities unless they allow him to determine who they admit, what books they can read, and what they can teach. He also demands that his goons be permitted on campus to arrest any student criticizing his policies.

Harvard University and 150 other universities have joined to resist his fascist intrusion into their universities.

He also targets journalists and media outlets, threatening lawsuits and withholding funds unless they report only what he approves. His executive order to end public funding of National Public Radio and Public Broadcasting Service will affect over 1,500 public local stations. This is an authoritarian move to control what Americans can hear and see.

Trump may have already intimidated and silenced some in the media because there does not seem to be a lot of coverage of all the anti-Trump protests weekly all over the country.

His administration has already attacked women’s reproductive rights, and now he is attacking trans people’s rights. He wants to do away with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), which is a blatant attack on racial justice. He is trying to erase Black History from history books.

Trump has signed 141 Executive Orders during his first 100 days in office, most of which were probably written by Project 2025, the Heritage Foundation, and other fascists like Steven Miller.

The executive orders range from tariffs wars, ending birthright citizenship, curbing DEI, pardoning January 6 criminals who attacked the capitol in an insurrection Trump enabled and encouraged, stopping states from enforcing climate laws, allowing tree cutting in national forests, to attempts to seize land in Canada, Panama, Greenland, and Gaza.

The UK Guardian lists more executive orders.  https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/may/01/trump-executive-orders

Democrat Socialist Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) are on a nationwide tour to Fight the Oligarchy, drawing huge crowds even in red states.

AOC reveals that the massive nationwide marches are scaring some House Republican members. They sent a letter to the House leadership saying they could not support a bill that included any reduction in Medicaid coverage for vulnerable populations.

Because of the tariffs, the firing of federal workers, the dismantling of the government, and all the executive orders demanding that institutions comply with Trump’s demands, his approval rating is dropping like Musk’s Tesla stock.

Good luck, Trump, taking on the majority of the American public who are not part of your cult and don’t worship you like a god.

If Trump and Musk want to lower the debt and do away with waste and fraud, then instead of eliminating programs that help poor children, like Head Start and WIC – tax the rich. Trump, stop stealing from the poor so you can give another big, beautiful tax break to your wealthy friends.

Trump’s visit to the Super Bowl game cost taxpayers approximately $20 million. Welfare King Musk has received almost $40 billion from the government to start his Space X program. While dismantling the government, Musk canceled contracts the government had with other companies and gave those contracts to his companies. We need to stop this type of waste and fraud.

When your rights are under attack, stand up, speak out, and fight back for democracy, freedom of speech, the rule of law, and the Constitution. Your silence will not protect you from this fascist want-to-be dictator and his subservient billionaire buddies.
